Early childhood encounters with traffic safety issues could produce long-term benefits and affect their adulthood driving behavior. Previously DSCV had produced and distributed an elementary school level activity booklet. An online children traffic safety quiz contest was another undertaking. The latest effort is the Elementary School Outreach project. DSCV is in partnership with Waterloo and Evansdale Police Departments and has full support of the Waterloo School District. Officers will visit the classrooms and discuss traffic safety skills. The goal is to make children aware of traffic safety. The effort is not so much as to strictly “train” the children but make them cognizant of safety issues.
Congratulations to Avaya B., Daniel B., Audrienne K., Claire R., Abigail D., Shanti E., Damir S., and Molly M. for being the end of season 1 safety quiz winners.
